Our Story

In 2012 Austin Felis II had a vision of starting a different kind of maple syrup company. Growing up in Stowe, VT he would come to the small town of Dorset to vacation, years later after going to college and living in Boston he decided to move back to Vermont. Using his background in engineering, business, as well as mechanics he started teaching himself all the inns and outs of sugar making, he hung a few lines, tapped some trees and instantly he knew that he wanted to make this a full time profession. In 2013 Austin and wife Lauren moved to Dorset, VT full time to pursue the maple syrup business and raise their growing family. With Laurens background in photography she handles the marketing side of the business. The Dorset Maple Reserves mission has always been to honor the tradition of sugar making but also add a modern twist on how people use this magnificent condiment, we are constantly coming up with new ways to use our maple syrup to break the stigma of using it just for breakfast. We developed our bourbon barrel aged maple syrup back in 2014 and then our smoked & spicy in 2015. These maple syrups are meant for the creative cook and great in anything from cocktails, sauces, cooking and more. From tapping to bottling we do it all. We truly hope that customers enjoy our products as much as we love making them!
